I Fall Down

I Fall Down is the first single off of the The Tin Drum Family Band’s debut album, “Emerson Street”. I Fall Down began in an attempt to learn the Beatles version of Act Naturally, their cover of the great Buck Owen’s tune. Burleigh Drummond Sr. explains, “As is so often the case in songwriting that working on one idea opens the door for another to appear. I Fall Down waltzed in like it was waiting for it’s grand entrance, like it had written itself, which I believe most songs do. We are just the vessels that carry the tunes.” He elaborates that the single speaks of the frustration of acute shyness and insecurity one can feel growing up as an only child and the almost aggressive posture one takes to overcome it. The subject in his desire for love and acceptance is blind to the fact that it is all there for him if he could just allow himself to embrace it. Easier said than done, but well worth the effort.

The production of I Fall Down features all the group members starting with Burleigh McDowall Drummond’s Tabla playing - a skill acquired through his studies in India, Sierra Drummond’s nod to Bobbi Gentry’s cello production in “Ode to Billie Joe”, and Mary Harris’s angelic vocal release in the bridge. It also showcases the amazing support work of Marc Bonilla on electric guitar and of course the Tin Drum Family Band on stunning harmonies.
