Mary Harris
Mary Harris hails from Three Rivers, CA. a small town that serves as the entry way to the Sequoia National Forest. Honing her musical skills she soon became the big fish in a little pond. This prompted her move to Los Angeles where she soon met and wed Burleigh G. Drummond, now going on for 41 years. During this time she has established herself as a premier singer, arranger, keyboardist, and composer. Besides creating three albums with her husband as Tin Drum she has gone on to be a mainstay in the touring/recording group AMBROSIA as well as touring, arranging, singing and playing keyboards for PINK FLOYD, JIMMY BUFFET, ANIMAL LOGIC (Stewart Copeland/Stanley Clarke), MICHAEL MCDONALD, AL STEWART, CAROLE KING, ETC. The list of producers that rely on her talents include Elliiot Scheiner, James Guthrie, and Russ Kunkell, to name a few. Although her credits are impressive she is probably most proud of the inspiration that she has imparted to hundreds of her students over the years, more than a few of whom have gone on to have fulfilling careers in the performing arts, two of which are her son Burleigh and her daughter Sierra. She is the Matriarch of the TIN DRUM FAMILY BAND and for that they are in good hands!
“She’s A Whisper”
I wrote this song last summer when my mom’s first cousin passed away. her name was Janet Main. She was probably one of the kindest people U have ever met. She was very poetic and the lyrics highlight her beautiful, calm, and loving demeanor. She was quite the matriarch of our Canadian family, and always made our California family feel at home and loved. RIP Janet Main. We love you.
“The Best of You and Me”
I wrote this song a couple years ago while observing different relationships. It is basically about couples thinking the grass is going to be greener on the other. But actually, when you stop and smell the roses, you realize that life is actually really good just where you are in your relationship. We all just need to relax and enjoy life today and not dwell on the future.
“She’s The Last One”
This song was recently written about my daughter Sierra. She is one a kind. She has a huge heart and compassion for social justice. She has loved emotion for good causes. But sometimes it can be overwhelming for her because she cares so much. I think the lyrics sum it up pretty well. I just have to say I am such a lucky mom with an amazing daughter.
